    NM Off Range Oryx

Has anyone had success with off range oryx in NM? If so, let's see some pics of them.

I have been doing some research and what little information I can find says it's a pretty tough hunt. Any suggestions on special gear or where to stay would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

It is a tough hunt, and I’d plan on hunting at least a week or so to give it an honest go. Get the OnX maps and hunt between I-25 and the missile range, or around the north or east boundary of the range. Keep a hi-lift jack and shovel in the truck. Having a tool box or something in the back of your truck so you can get some elevation to glass is handy. Those things have great eyesight, and are deceptively sneaky.

If you’re hunting the west boundary, stay in Williamsburg / Truth or Consequnces. North boundary, maybe somewhere around San Antonio? You can camp on BLM lands, and I’d suggest doing that. It will save you a bunch of windshield time getting into the areas oure going to want to hunt.

    What month are you going?

You get a full month. The most important thing you need is time in the field. You will be driving and glassing a whole bunch.

Thanks for the information. My hunt is June 1-30 so it's right around the corner. I didn't really pay attention to my second or third options when applying and I guess it's catching up with me now.

Guess I'll try to head over there this weekend and start doing some scouting...after I pick up a hi-lift jack. Thanks fellas.
