What hook did you use? and did you fish right on the bottom? I know fishing for them on a trot line, I always had my best luck fishing about half way between surface of the water and the bottom for op's n blues...

Looks 14-16 pounds to me.
You need to get a big one on R&R Use a thin 10/0 circle hook. Fish in a cove in 9-12' deep water. Basically right before dark they head up to the backs of coves to start eating. Narrow coves they get funneled.

That is great! I've caught them out of the Red River while fishing from the bank, but I've always wanted to use my kayak and get real close to the log jams. Thanks for posting.
