Lumber getting rained on?
04-13-2019, 12:42 PM
I ordered a load of treated lumber to build a porch, I didn’t have a chance to put a tarp over it and it’s getting rained on.
Should I be worried?

No worries especially if it's banded and stacked properly.

Only thing I worry about with treated lumber is getting it screwed down before it dries and tries to warp.

This. Especially once it gets wet. Get it screwed down quick.

If it’s wet when you screw it down, butt the deck boards together. There will be a gap once they dry and shrink.

Coated screws, no gaps and do not let it dry before you screw it down. DO NOT use nails.

if it's loose you are going to have a pile of twisted up s#!+, banded; not so much.
most of it is still wet when you buy it anyways.
best thing to do is get some of those cheap 1" straps at T.S. and cinch it together real tight if it's not banded up.

Put the rings of the wood down like a frown to keep the edges from turning up when it warps.

It's still all banded up as it was when delivered, we are planning to get it built pretty quick so hopefully it'll be ok.
