    Spring rains for antler growth?

Is there a critical time? We've been doing great so far but does it need to continue through June or at what point can we call it good to go for the year? Ive never paid it much attention. Usually too busy fishing.

April showers bring may flowers well they also bring big antlers! I would say from February-June it has a big impact. Vegetation growth, daylight hours but also too much rain can hurt. The more flooded areas there are the less vegetation can grow. My place should he good this year. I'm on high ground and everything is very green! By far one of my favorite times of year looking at pics of antler growth.

      From an article.

During the time of antler growth, rains spur the growth of quality vegetation which in-turn yields a nutrient-rich diet which optimizes antler growth. The fact heavy rains occurred from March through June–during the most critical time of antler production–leaves no question there are some big antlers growing.

      Here is another good article.

There was a study some years ago and mind you it was a south Texas study, but the conclusion was that there was a definite corralation between April rains and antler growth

I don't know if it was the same study you're referring to, but several years ago there was a study at the Faith Ranch that determined that April was the most critical month for rain as it relates to antler development.

Right now is the most critical time for rains, now until the end of April... lots of studies have been done to prove it. The most well known is a study that was done on Stuart Stedman's Faith Ranch in Dimmit county. Very extensive study, if you have a chance to read it, it's very interesting.

Sure wish we'd get some soon, we're dry!!
