A really nice shotgun on a budget

I recently caught a Weatherby Element Deluxe 20 gauge on sale at Sportsman's Warehouse that I picked up for $569 plus tax and background check. It is a beautiful gun with nice high-gloss walnut. It is well made, fantastic fit and finish, and is a joy to shoot.

I decided I wanted a 12 gauge version also. As I browsed the online stores, I quickly found the Element Deluxe in 12 was going for $800 or more. I just didn't want to pay that much. As I was searching, I came across the Element Upland. It could be had for right at $600 shipped out the door. The Upland model has gloss metal work, but oil finished walnut.I could tell from the pics that the oil finish left something to be desire, but decided to take a chance anyway and a few days later it arrived at my local shop and I picked it up.

The wood was of decent quality, but just needed some additional love.

I removed the stocks and got out the 0000 steel wool. As I lightly buffed the wood, the improvement was almost immediate. Once I had thought I had done enough light buffing, I grabbed the boiled linseed oil. Using just tiny amounts on my fingertips, I began to rub the oil in. With linseed oil, a tiny amount goes a long way. The results are going to be very nice with not a lot of effort.
When I am finished I will post pics. I have a Benelli Montefeltro Walnut, and I expect this gun will look as good if not better than the Benelli.

Weatherby is offering the new inertia 18i this year made by Breda in Italy, for far more money.
The Element is a nice Inertia gun that won't break the bank.

I'll post some pics when I get finished with it. It really looks good enough with one coat of BLO and some hand rubbing, but I may add another coat or two as I am not very good at leaving well enough alone lol.
