    East Tx Turkey

Every spring for the last 2 years I have a hen show up for a few days. Sure wish I had some Toms around as well. Cool sighting. I watched her April 1st cross the road on to my place. Today one of my cams finally captured some pics of her.

    Henderson County in LaRue.

Too many poachers around Athens to have a sustainable turkey population!

That's the plan. Looking to expand a few acres soon if deal goes through as well as improve/enhance habitat throughout. I still have a bobcat problem but put a good dent in them over the last 2 yrs. Fingers crossed!

Sounds good. Removing some underbrush via cutting or controlled burn works wonders. Food plots, etc. Do you have any creeks or ridges on your place?

Very cool. I agree she's on your place nesting somewhere.

We had 2 pair in Houston county for 2 years (both hens had trackers). Tpwd would come check them every spring. On the third year all we had was a single hen. The hen lasted for about 2 more seasons.

Only sign of chicks was found bones. I saw her a few times from this stand where a cam got her in the snow

When I bought my place near Troup over 20 years ago I had 7 hens roosting on my place. Then 5, then 2, then none. Too many yotes, coons, bobcats, skunks, possums, and poaching a-holes for us to ever have a population except on large places with predators controlled.

Hope you can get a tom to show up. Doesn't do the hen any good to nest if there's no Tom around to fertilize the eggs. There used to be 4 kind of between us in Reese. Haven't seen them in several years.

I hunt about 15 minutes south of Larue, last year we had our first turkeys on camera and saw about a dozen once.
