    Crap I didn’t know...

I purchased some Browning RangeOps cameras a couple years ago and have been running them here and there without issue.

The other day I approached my camera that gets the most action and found it in need of fresh batteries. I replaced the batteries and it didn’t turn on.

I was thinking that my camera was dead. Checked the SD, it is good. New batteries fresh out of the pack.

Maybe I’m behind in the times, but apparently not all AA batteries are created equal. My range ops camera will NOT accept energizer ultimate lithium. I purchased these batteries specifically for my trail cams, and now I can’t use them there.

    Ultimate lithium’s are L91 or FR6. Energizer max are LR6 or AM3.

Just one more thing to note if you’re buying a game camera and want to run a battery that should last 10x longer than the regular energizer.

Just some crap I didn’t know.

I’m pretty sure that’s what I use in my Browning’s

In the battery cartridge is states you need a UM3 or LR06. I put some fresh max’s in the cam and it’s working again

Interesting to know. I have two of these and they run a LONG time on regular energizers.

We’ve gotten to where we just use the cheap rayovaks and change them out often. Mostly because we buy those bulk deals around thanksgiving time at Lowe’s.

I’ve heard the Kirkland’s batteries are great for the money. I’ll look into the rayovaks at Lowe’s. I wanted lithium’s after I read this test:

Seems pretty significant difference for about 2 times the cost.

I use Lithium on my Browning cameras but do not have that model. Thanks for sharing that info because I would have had no idea either.

I fried a moultrie with some batteries that looked like AA's that one of the reps that comes through the hospital gave me

Turns out they were 3.6v EACH

Told him he owed me a camera

Had no idea that I could not use lithiums in my Brownings

Apparently some models may accept the Ultimate Lithium, the Range Ops does not though.
