    Oklahoma-Texas State Line Marker

A surveyor found this on the southern shore of the Red River. He said it was 10” deep. Pretty cool!

In that acidic sandy soil, how has it not rusted away in almost 100 yrs?
      Pretty cool find.

Didn't think about that. Doesn't really have the right tarnish for brass imo, but hard to tell from a pic.

That’s awesome. We should move it a little farther north each year and slowly take over.

I wonder if a lack of oxygen slowed the rusting way down.

Or just move here and let the Californian's taking over Texas have it.

Base of it is most likely set in cement. There is a high iron content in the soil in that region, hence the "red" color in the soil from oxidation of the iron in the soil. But it could be really old tarnished brass. I don't remember what ACE uses when putting out markers.

I wouldn't mind having Texas in my backyard I ain't gonna lie. There's a lot of huntin opportunities to be had if that was the case.

                          What a cool find.
Could it be made of Bronze?

Most of those markers that we have seen while hunting in CO and other places were made out of bronze.

That river has moved a lot over the years. It has caused a lot of problems with taxation, accessibility and ownership.
