    Low flying duck kills man

Buddy in Rome GA sent me this article.

    Crazy.

A Floyd County resident died Saturday, almost two weeks after a freak accident on Weiss Lake. Cherokee County Coroner Dr. Jeremy Deaton identified the victim as 66 year old Wendell Dean Crowe Jr. of Rome. Dr. Deaton said that Crowe was initially hospitalized after the incident which occurred on March 10 while he was operating

Almost took a coot to the face one morning running across lake in dark in my bass boat

Don't think it would have killed me but dang sure would have ruined my day

Had a red head hit my center console a few years back while cutting across the bay and let me tell you he hit it hard.

                      Prayers up for an outdoorsman.

Kind of surprising this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. Ducks fly 60 or 70 mph. I know that years ago I killed an incoming duck from a duck blind that fell and hit the corner of the blind: shook the whole structure from the impact.

Man I can’t tell you how many times I’ve come close to snapping rods off fishing the coast in the winter time while ducks are still there. This one hit so hard it wedged itself between center console railing and the windshield. Hit him going 40 and he was flying flat out. No clue how it didn’t break the windshield

It’s surprising to see the jokes about something like this, not what I would want to read if this was someone I was close to.

My friend and his wife hit a pelican in West Galveston bay with his Haynie. It made a horrible mess of the boat. Broke the windshield and bent the grab bar. Luckily they weren't hurt, just covered in pelican guts.
