    Headlamp Question

    1978 Chevrolet K10 truck.

The driver side headlamp stays on low beam.
The passenger side headlamp stays on high beam.

On older trucks like this you have a dimmer switch on the floorboard, i replaced the switch but it is still doing the same thing.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

If you check voltage, do you get +12V on the other connection when you toggle the switch?

Sounds like maybe a short or a bad wire.
Is the light dim? I mean dimmer than normal?
        Check all the wires.

I replaced both headlamps, you can't just replace the bulb on this model. I was thinking of rewiring all my lighting because i am having brake problems as well. The passenger side light is bright, but the driver side is very dim...not sure how bright it should be.

How hard would it be to redo all the wiring from headlamps/sidemarkers/brake lights??

Sounds like you have a bad ground wire on one of the bulbs. If you loose ground for one bulb the current will travel through the filaments on the other bulb and use its ground. Run a new ground for both bulbs and see what you got.
