Calling Axis Success!

I assume the call will work best when the Axis have breeding on their mind. Is this true? And when are they most likely in rut here in Texas?

i will confirm that the exy axis call WORKS. in Louisiana at least... ordered one and said wth nothing to lose. blew it and 5 minutes later a monster steps out and i shoot him. this was on a 1000 acre high fence ranch where they are VERY smart and nocternal...
