$195/mo. Every wednesday. I always gripe about what it costs, but I can go out there on any day and it is PERFECT. I used to take care of it and it wasn't perfect. I battled mustard algae, ph balance, etc. I'm still gonna gripe about the price, but my time is worth something and I don't want to spend it messing with a pool.

Here is my take, if you have the free cash, hire it out. In my area it is $125-160 per month and that is year around pricing. You provide the chemicals with those rates. I am now on year 9 of our pool and it is very simple to keep clear. I think a lot of folks pay way too much in chemicals and are chasing clarity and pH too much. I only use 3 products in my pool and that is all, 3" Tablets, 12.5% Bleach and No Mor Problems. That is all that enters my pool, besides rain water and the fills from the faucet when needed. I have gone to using liquid bleach for my shock for heavy bathing loads or excessive rains. I keep tablets in my chlorinator and skimmers once it heats up for the summer.

I can't see spending $$ on a pool company, it's too easy to DIY.

If you don’t feel confident about cleaning your pool, testing and adjusting chemicals, spring and summer are probably the worst times to learn.
I’d suggest at least a chem service to get you through these next 6-8 months. Chemical consumption goes way down once the days get shorter and water temp stays lower, so it would be easier to learn then.
As far as full service price goes there are way to many variables to quote online. The things I look at first, leaving out condition of equipment since you said it’s a new pool, size(gallons and depth), is there a spa, location and type of trees, condition of landscaping (the crappier the yard the worse the pool), type of pool sweep, is pool entirely surrounded by deck, is there a dog that swims regularly, access to pool and equipment, proximity to closest pool, timer or control panel....

At my last house I was paying $125 a month. That included all chemicals. Filter cleaning was a once a year deal and that was an additional $125.

I tried to do it my self and quickly found out that I SUCK at it! I would screw it up about once every other month and it would cost me a lot of money on chemicals to get the pool right again. I went 4-5 years FIGHTING with my **** pool and could never enjoy it. I have had a company do it for me that last 7 years and for me me it is worth it. I pay less in the long run. I do think it would be less expensive for most to do it yourself, but for me it was much more expensive. I can do almost anything but have found 3 things that I just cannot do: 1) plumbing 2) Car maintenance 3) pool maintenance Learning what your not good at is very important.
