The CA-Oregon-Washington smoke is getting old.

Looks like a ‘normal’ sunset when I used to go to China for work.

A good rain washed the crud out of the air. Seems like a good time to set up on some trails heading into a hay field.

            Montana weather.
Was nice and warm and then-

I slid under a tree to get out of them hurting my head.

Tons of antelope (no tag) and nothing for elk and deer. Still fun. I’m told there’s nice bulls feeding there, I’ve seen game cam pictures from a fellow who cut the hay.

I spent 2 days helping my son pack an elk out of the mountains. 4 1/2 miles from trailhead to elk. Griz are thick- we met 2 guys who 2 shot a 320 bull and when they got back making first trip out 1/2 the boned meat was ripped up by a griz.

No pictures allowed- here’s my pack with backstraps. UDAP on left hip, 10mm XD on right hip.

Wood flooring is almost done. I can’t wait to see it without the protective paper and cardboard everywhere.

Next trip into Bozeman to get more doug fir trim, I’ll pick up the gun safe I bought on Memorial day.

We had our first TBH visitor- Leonhogboy (Gary) and his wife Syl.

They were passing through on vacation and stopped by for a visit.

                            Great to meet you folks!

Soon to be no more Bill in San Jose....

Another morning with no elk- but they’re in the area. I passed on a small 3x2 mule deer Wed am looking for elk.

I came out of pines and he was standing 50 yards away. I froze, he was so dumb and curious he walked towards me to 30 yards and then gave a broadside. I just couldn’t shoot- the mulie was dumber than a rock- no sport in that.

Out yesterday, out this morning to BLM public land new to me. Nothing but I found an unpatented mine and cabin. The shaft went far back- it had green, ugly water inside so no way I was going in. Old gold mine, looking at the cabin and the nails used I’m guessing the 1930s. During the depression guys came here to scratch out a living.

                                Some pictures.
