Actually my son's right shoe came apart at the toe yesterday. He is a size 11, so he could use them.

Back when I played highschool ball about 6 years ago I used an Easton omen. 33-30. That bat was the hottest bat I ever seen since they came out with that BBCOR garbage. And it was honestly the second hottest bat I ever seen. Composite and the more you hit it the hotter it got like most composites. Felt good and sounded good. Big sweet spot as well. Idk if they still make it but I recommend it

Just did some research and scratch that idea. Sounds like the quality of that bat has gone to crap. If you find the old blue and grey one anywhere it’s definitley worth it. If anyone remembers the old Com Bats that we’re hot years ago it’s up there with that except it’s BBCOR. I believe the Com Bats is pretty much what made them have to use BBCOR cause them bats were violent!

How about using an old fashioned wood bat? Maybe have your son showcase his skill and speed with the weapon the pros use? Might make the college scouts take notice if your slugger can hang with the kids using the high tech gear. Just a thought. Be gentle. [emoji6]

A balanced light swinging bat like the Rawlings Velo or the Slugger Solo would make the bump up in weight easier.

They still have plenty of pop - my son is a Sophomore and he hit one out 2 weeks ago with a Velo.

Velo or 5150 are both great bats. Cat 7/8 are great too. Voodoo or Zen are also great bats.... length and weight depend on the kid.
I don't think you have to spend $500 on a bat if your son is a good hitter already, but you can.

Yeah my son is under sized for his age. Still waiting for him to hit his growth spurt. So yes he would benefit from a lighter feel bat

I will have to look. It is a kids bat. He uses it for BP and likes that I use it for fungo. We even got fancy and put a tape grip on it.

I have a couple JV kids that use a wood bat when we get up on teams pretty good which is often.

This is my #2 fungo bat. The ol 5150. We have a dead one that has been around since I've been here and its a gamble on which one the kids grab me.

Actually he works out with a 32” drop 3 LS wood bat I picked up at Academy. We do a lot of drills to help with bat speed & quick hands through the zone. He does have a nice Marucci 29” drop 5 wood that is well balanced and he has a nice quick swing with it. We were hoping to use it in a wood bat tournament on April 6-7 but it got canceled.

                            Hey HawgH

I saw yall whipped up on Marshall, Tuesday night. One of my sons buddies plays 2nd base for them.

His dad just shook his head about the game.

My 14yr old has a net setup in my shop and does tee work with a 33/30 Easton wood bat. He may try it out in a game later this season.

Yeah I was at that game. That was our best lefty on the mound that is hard to hit. Great athlete too as he laid down two bunts & most times can beat the throw to first. I felt bad for Marshall. Surprised our coach didn’t pull starters & allow subs to get some game experience
