    Granger Heli hog shoot?

I heard they may be doing another Granger Heli hog shoot this week. Is that true?

If so, what are their limits? Do they shoot close to the lake or stay "x" feet away? Was curious because what if you were out there fishing LOL.

If you are out there fishing I wouldnt worry about it if they are doing one. They may close the entire lake or access to the lake since it is Corps of Engineer Lake they can restrict all access which is what I would think they would do.

why don't they let people hunt for free rather than shoot them from a helicopter?

They did one of these around Aquilla a few years ago (10 or so I think) and after 2 days of flying and shooting they killed 1 hog.

Last time they did this at Granger they did ok for the first 2 days then after that the hogs would hide when they heard the hilo. Kind of funny if you think about it.

I think they killled over 100 hogs last year.

There were several carcasses behind the primitive camp last year for the GRXH. I'm guessing they don't get many mature pigs. The ones that have heard a helo before that is.

Anyone know where I can read a list of rules for hunting on Granger?

All the websites are general and not Granger specific and I hear many conflicting rules from different people.

They shut the gates and they have people that ride 4-wheelers, working with the people riding the helocopters to locate hogs. Once the hogs are shot they take blood samples of a percentage and send it in for testing. I asked the Ranger last year after watching them do it from the dam out of 50 shots how many usually are kill shots and apparently it depends on the location they are working in but he said it was lower than 25%. He said it's just to thick.
