    Sound deadening privacy fence

Our house backs up to a pretty busy, and only getting busier, street. I’m looking for ways to quiet it as much as possible without spending a fortune.

Currently all we have is a 7’ privacy fence which is required by hoa. I’ve looked into Acoustablock mat that I can attach to the existing privacy fence ($1k).

Has anyone had a similar issue and found a fix?

My Leon Co. cabin is 1/2 mile from I-45.
During the winter no foliage, with an east wind, it sounds like I have a house on the feeder road. I hate it.

Short story, I think the only real solution is to move to a quiet neighborhood.

Lol that’s not a option at the moment. Have to make it work for another year or two.

Bamboo plants are really good sound insulators.

Landscaping for noise reduction involves clever use of hardscapes and plants as well as other tips and tricks. Here's how to create your private oasis.

Here’s a good source of info on options. I like the water feature option

block or brick and tall is the best choice.

move now before it gets worse....and even harder to sell

We had an engineer at work put up some type of acoustic fence. It was vinyl, but I think it was filled with foam.

Go put up a “road closed” sign on each end of said street.

Is the sound you are trying to deaden in your house or your backyard. If your house, I don't think doing the fence will solve the problem.

Not really. I would think you could Foam the side of the attic that faces the street, as well as add additional insulation to the ceiling and it would help a ton. Then do the Fence and it should deaden your walls.

Air pods are $200. Or put in a killer outdoor sound system and fight back.

Have you tried more rifle hunting without hearing protection?

Go spend an hour a week at the closest rifle or gun range..

The wood fence is helping out...you might consider running another course on top...if the HOA allows. Or ***** enough to HOA with other owners and theyll increase your rates and build a concrete fence for everyone.

If youre in between some two story houses you might be SOL because the sound is bouncing off them. You might consider some trellising on the back wall of your house and in the fence corners to deaden the reverberations youre likely gettting betwen the noise and hard surfaces.

                              Good luck.
