    Cast iron pot question

What size is best to cook say 40 lbs of boudin or chili or stew? Is 8 gallons big enough? 5? 10? Don’t want it so big that I can’t use a propane burner if I wanted to instead of a fire. 40 lbs would be the max I’d ever cook. Any brand? Get it with a stand or not?

I would say 10 gallon for a 40lbs of meat in a chili.

That size might be a bit hard to find. I have not come across anything that size except a big ol kettle. Could not get it away from my friend.

            Billy,

Cast iron pots are sold by numbers or referencing “quart size”.
Not sure they make a Dutch oven big enough for 40 lbs of meat.
You will likely have to buy a jambalaya cast iron cooker to do 40 lbs.

See this link for size/quart/pounds of meat for Dutch ovens

I can send you a link where to buy jambalaya pots and cookers
