I just purchased a new to me house. I went out to the shed the other day and opened it for the first time and found a Yamaha 4 wheeler. The owner said it was working when they parked it. After a year or so they couldn’t get it to start. She mailed me a clean blue title yesterday. So I’m thinking about trying to get it running. I’m not the mechanic type. Can put a new battery on my self, but then what? Any help will be appreciated. I live in Nevada close to Farmersville. North of Plano.

after draining tank... Look in it to see if there is any gunk. pull out petcock valve and look at in tank filter/fuel line.
the carb may be toast if too gummed up too bad. I had heck of a time getting gaskets to fit again after taking off the bowl. I have bought new aftermarket carbs online for cheap...plug and play.
carb & tank fouling is the main culprit after sitting a while.

I got a free Chinese four wheeler off the green screen a few years ago. It looked great, but did not run. I cleaned the carb under the guidance of my neighbor...got it running, but it wouldn’t stay running.
I bought a cheapo carb from China that had a manual choke, replaced the air filter with a K&N bolt on to the carb air filter and hot wired it so I didn’t have to use the key. Today, it runs awesome.
My point is that you can learn from this free 4 wheeler. Give it a go and see what happens, worst case is that your eventually take it to a mechanic. Throw 50-100 bucks at it and see what happens.
