    Things to do in Colorado?

Me and the wife have a trip planned for Colorado in early May. We are flying into Denver and plan to stay over night, then we are open for 2-3 days after that.

Any recommendations for things to do/eat while we are in Denver?

Any recommendations for places to go/things to do/places to stay overnight within 3 hours of Denver for 2 days?

I did mention to her about going to Steamboat Springs to hike for a couple days, but we are open for any other suggestions.

This will be my 2nd time to Colorado and her first. (I went to Steamboat Springs for Musicfest and that's about all the experience I have for that state)

Sushi Den for dinner, and Denver Biscuit for breakfast.

Also, Sams #3 downtown has an amazing breakfast as well. We go to Denver twice a year just to catch a Rockies game. Probably my favorite stadium due to the awesome weather and good beer selection. Also a good time is to be had anywhere around Coors Field. If you want to head north the Rocky Mountain National Park isn’t too far, but may be quite crowded depending on time of year. The Coors brewery is a good tour out west of Denver as well. I didn’t think I’d care for it, but I actually enjoyed the tour. Also lots of great brewery’s in the area, which is one of my favorite parts of Denver. The rest of CO I enjoy getting out into the country more!

Estes Park and Rocky Mountain national park are only an hour and a half away. Great day trip.

I hear the brownies and cookies in Colorado are extra good.

Vail and Beaver Creek are great places to visit.
Just so you know the snow is melting during that time so the mountains will be muddy and a lot of hiking trails are closed or still under snow when you get into the high elevations. If you go hiking be sure to have a back up plan in case the trails or roads are impassable. The views are still breathtaking and you can see a lot of wildlife starting to appear during this time.

I would visit the REI there, its pretty awesome. Other than that, I would leave Denver ASAP and go to Breck/Vail.

Pikes Peak was way cooler than I thought it would be. The Boulder area is very pretty and awesome for hiking.

                          Eat cookies and gummie bears.
