We went to Universal a few years ago. Most of the rides, definitely cater a bit more to an older audience compared to Disney. My wife loved the Harry Potter areas. Not as crowded as Disney either and we liked that the fast passes were good for all rides and unlike Disney, you didn't schedule a time to ride. If you paid for a fast pass for the day, you would head for the fast pass line on every ride.
Disney is a lot of fun as well; however, no question, Disney lives more off their name and nostalgic value as compared to Universal. Heck, we went to Disney back in 2017 for the first time in 20 years and I couldn't believe the amount of things that were unchanged.

We went there a few years ago and enjoyed it way better than Disney.
Stayed on site, so had the early bird pass. Would see a few things, grab lunch, and head back to the hotel for a break. Everyone did their own thing (nap, swim, what ever), and then got back together for dinner. Then went back to the park.
If you can get tickets to Blueman, go see that show. It was awesome.
Just don't sit up front.
