    when are fallow hard horned

a group of guys and i are trying to do a exotic hunt but i am really wanting to take a fallow but were are trying to do this hunt in the next few months and am being told that they wont be hard horned... are they like whitetail in that they drop around the same time every year or like axis and it follows when they were born?

    thanks

Got this off a fallow deer website The antlers are shed in late winter, and a new set begins to grow almost immediately, first in “velvet”.
The antlers reach their full size by late summer, the velvet is shed, and the antlers are ready to use in the fall mating season.

      Fallow

They are generally like a whitetail so youll have to either do it soon or wait till next fall. Fallow are notorious fighters and many of them will have some or most of their points broken off by now. The best time for hunting is when they just come out of velvet and before they start rutting. The hides will be short haired and the neck will be narrower than when they rut, but they will score better.

from my understanding they are like whitetail. i shot my first one this year on a free range ranch by rockspringsthe last week of november and after that i researched more about them, they are really cool looking animals

i dont know squat about fallow, but from reading what the other guys have said, i'd be willing to bet they're like whitetail

On most of the ranches I've hunted they recommended the first week in October. They are all hard horned at this time. Because fallow are very violent when they fight they break off points and main beams and occasionally kill one another. The later in the year you wait the more chances they'll damage their antlers.
