Thinking of elk hunting unit 581. Does any one have any experience hunting it. Not looking for honey hole locations just general info would be helpful.

Just taking a quick glance at it, it looks like some good country. I bet it's some high country being on the back side of pikes peak. Also looked like there is a ton of private land in that unit also. Best of luck to you this year.

Bringing this to the top. I have a scheduled scouting trip in late July and would like to hear if anyone has hunted this unit and what you may be able to tell me about it.

Area is probably going to be crawling with hikers, etc.. lots of hiking trails, lots of easy access, etc..
Elk are going to be tight on private land.
Were you going in from Mueller? If so, you'll have plenty of company, like bunches & bunches

Yes Mueller is one entry point and we are also looking at Dome Rock. We have a buddy that just bought a home just south of Divide and we will look at public access around there as well.Comment
