    Rattle snakes and Little man

I have a 5 year old son that is hooked on hunting. What should I buy him or get him for the new lease. His momma is a little worried.

When my daughter was younger I bought her gaiters and cowboy boots. That way as the grow you are not having to replace snake boots each time. It work very well. I think Everlast sell them for kids

Check out Turtleskin gaiters. They are expensive but very lightweight and comfortable. They come up to my knees so they would protect well up the thigh on a youngster that age.

CracksCrackshot Youth Snake Chapz provide 100% full snake bite protection for children. Made of 900 Denier Nylon and 18 ounce vinyl laminated polyester, these youth snake chaps will still allow for good range of motion for knees. You can relax knowing your children are protected from snake bites from the foot to the waist. Crackshot Youth Chapz have been penetration tested to ASTM 1342-05 specifications. Youth Chapz are made in the USA. Crackshot identifies their products as truly Snake Bite "Proof" versus Snake "Resistant" as other Snake Bite Protection clothing items do. Each of Crackshot's Snake Bite products are backed by a $1 million product liability policy - which has never had a claim against it in 26 years. Crackshot Youth Chapz attach to a belt (not included) and have a zipper on the inside of the leg which runs about 10" up from the bottom of the chaps.

This is what my daughter has with a good pair of leather cowboy boots. She is 7 and they took a little getting used to but it's worth the piece of mind.

What part of the state will y’all be in?
It is really amazing how few rattlesnakes I have encountered in my 55 yrs of hunting Texas.
But it only takes one so those gaiters sound like the ticket. When he gets older,
I wore the chaps when I was quail hunting.

With young ones that age it’s not so much the walking snake bite but they tend to want to grab and touch everything.

We found a bay one so I showed him what they look like and how fast they strike. He knows not to mess with them and to get away from one. I’m just trying to be a little on the safe side.

gaiter at that age, when he's a little older Academy sells snake boots for young's at about $100.
I bought my grandson a pair to go hog hunting in July , first day he got on a big Timber Rattler, well worth any cost. They lasted two years, so $50/year for insurance.
