    White Turkey Decoy?

    Has anyone tried this decoy?

It’s supposed to leverage tom turkey’s ability of one cone in its eye & seeing the wavelength near 400 nm in the UVA light range...meaning they can see a white turkey better then a natural colored turkey

There are a few of those running around where I've been hunting for the last 33 years (public lands). They were turned loose in hopes of offering the public more hunting opportunities back in the late 1960s. They have also bred with the local Rio population. So, you get turkeys that are black with white spots, white with black spots, white, black, gray and white with black, black with gray, gray, and about any color combination you can think of. There used to be several colonies of them. But the numbers have dwindled over the last 15 years.

I never seemed to have any problems with wild turkeys seeing my neutral colored decoys, but to each his own. Gotta respect the Drury brothers for not sitting on their laurels, I guess.

Hey, it says right there on the box that it’s “scientifically proven” so it has to work, right?

Turkeys are funny birds so they may just work. As said above I’ve never had an issue with them seeing the normal colored decoys.

I'm sure it will work at least as good as a natural colored one.

If you find a feeder they’re frequenting no need for a decoy.

My inlaws used to have several feeding around the cow lot in the winter time in ND. I thought they were tame turkeys until I read up on the subject a little. I've never seen any in the places I've hunted in Texas, Wyoming, Colorado, or Kansas though.

Never seen the white turkey deke before. Not super impressed. However, I did know some guys that duck hunted a piece of public water that would put a couple duck decoys painted white in their spread and swore up and down on it that birds decoyed 10x better.....

I know for a fact that 1-3 snow decoys in a spread of Canada’s will draw many more geese in. They definitely can spot the contrast. It might work with turkeys as well. We have a white turkey hen on our place. She is very easy to spot in the brush. She is on the off limits list for this reason. She has helped us shoot lots of her boyfriends

Maybe.... I dunno. Just remember, their prey is the consumer, not turkeys.
