Headed to Mazatlan!

Good morning Green Screen! My parents have a timeshare in Mazatlan, and my girlfriend and I are headed there on 3/31 - 4/6. I really want to hit Lake El Salto for some bass fishing. I would also like to get out on the water and catch any saltwater variety as well!

Who has been, who have you used as a guide, and who would you recommend? I have never been before, and want the best possible experience. 2-day packages considered.

If bass fishing is what you want to do I would suggest other lakes besides Salto. The fishing can be better than any public water in the US but the lake is way over fished and lots and lots and lots of traffic on the lake, not to mention it is pretty small. A lake closer to mazatlan that’s exclusive to only 2 outfitters but more so just 1, is lake piccachos. Go with Ron Speed Jr, you’ll eat like a king, stay at top notch accommodations, and the fishing will wear you out.

I would recommend a seafood restaurant that had the best ceviche I’ve ever had but I can’t remember the name, it was on the beach near one of the million señor frogs.

Back in the 80's, Bill Heimpel's Star Fleet put us on sailfish. They're still in business and have been since 1953. I'd say they're legit.

We went when it wasn’t that big. Had a blast, water wasn’t blue like the carribian side. Last time we looked it had a pretty high travel warning.

We went in '17, didn't fish but had an absolute blast! Never felt unsafe at all. Stayed at Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay, beautiful resort. We really enjoyed down town and even hit a few casinos. my wife had a blast gambling.
