Absolutely - I wouldn't hesitate to use my bow. A friend went to Africa last year and showed me pics of his girafe and his uncles. It's definitely on my "30 most wanted list."
The first time I went to Africa, I did not want to shoot one. In my mind, they didn't seem wild enough. I guess that was my many trips to the zoo.
After having been there and been close to them in the wild, I have changed my opinion. I would shoot one and consider it "fair game and fair chase".
It should be noted that their hide is nearly as tuff as an elephant. You need serious bow pounds and a very heavy arrow. The vitals are very high, up toward the base of the neck. A shot low behind the shoulder will be a gut shot.
I don't know if I will ever get back to Africa, but if I do and I can pull the weight....they will be on the shoot list.
If I did, it would have to be a true wild Giraffe and if so, the answer is without question! Why? Because I am curious as to what a 29" arrow looks like entering an animal that big AND as Taxi said, it would feed a bunch of people.
Why, is this then next one on your wish list?
