    Belize Advice

We are headed down in about a month. I’m looking for suggestions on where to stay. We will be 3 nights in the mainland and 3 nights on Ambergris. I think the mainland is where I need the most insight from folks who have been before.

I went to ambergris key about 10 years ago. I'm sure it has changed a lot since then. We rented a golf cart, I think that's how most people get around. You need to go snorkeling, but don't go with the big crowed boats. We found a guy on the docks with a panga and told him we wanted to go snorkeling and beach tour. We gave him money for drinks and food and he took us. we wanted to get away from the crowds. Have fun!

also if you go snorkeling, wear a shirt. You don't realize how much sun you are getting on your back while you are floating/snorkeling and being sunburned on vacation is no fun.

Avoid the mainland, go to Ambergis or Caye Caulker.

Drink a Belikin for me. I love it down there. I have a friend that owns all the
Muy Ono resorts and Blue Horizon charters. All of his properties are first class.

We stayed at Ian Anderson's Caves Branch on the mainland for a few days and then headed over to Ambergis. We absolutely loved both places. Such a change to go from the rain forest to the beach and only travel a couple hours.
Discover our award-winning Belize jungle lodge. Caves Branch Jungle Lodge features a selection of comfortable jungle accommodations, convenient all inclusive packages and adventure tours like none other. Contact us to book your unforgettable vacation getaway in Belize's lush jungle.

Take a fishing pole with you. I spent a week in Ambergis and caught snapper, bonefish and barracuda wading the shore. Gave a barracuda to a local and she brought me breakfast tamales the next 3 days. The local guys also love sports hats if you want to trade with them. Everyone is nice down there.

                  AMEN to THIS!!

I got me about 3 hours worth of snorkeling on the first day in a Grand Cayman last year. I had to drink margaritas heavily for the next 3 days lol I never even put sun screen on.

I will be heading there in September on a fishing trip for 4 days! I can't wait! I believe we are staying at El Pescador and fishing with Yellow Dog.

That will be a blast. Is it a Yellow Dog hosted trip?

You can fly and do a day trip if you stay on the island.

Honestly the mainland just feels different. I didnt feel as safe. Not as pretty. The tube trip through the caves, was nice, but you cant bring beer.

Probably a good idea to put sunscreen on any exposed skin if you are spending a lot of time on the water.

Ask my shins how they came to realize that.
