Tanning Hides

I went with with a group that hunted Rams at Tatonka Creek Ranch last weekend. We were wanting to get the hides tanned. The hides were placed in a cooler for the weekend and then placed in either freezers or frig when we got back. I was just told that if it wasn't froze within 24 hours it would not be good. Thoughts? I would hate for that to be the case.

You’ll be fine. As long as the hides were salted well and kept cool you’re good.

Freeze them in a thick walled ice chest, then send to North Texas Tannery for about $45/hide for a soft tan.
