Help me pick 60lbs Vs 70lbs

Well my bowhunting trip to Texas to the Diamond C in Caddo with Skylar is now only 2 weeks away I am getting pretty excited.

My choice of bow to post over has to be decided by Monday so I have the weekend to pick.

    My choices are

    60lbs Diamond Marquis 29" DL
    395gr arrow
    265fps
    Roughly 62ft/lbs

    70lbs 82nd Airbourne 29" DL
    420gr arrow
    298fps
    Roughly 83ft/lbs

Same Beeman Hunter elite arrows just different spines. Both arrows are tipped with 100gr G5 Montecs and broadhead tuned to 60 yards. Accuracy theres nothing in the accuracy dept, hold the Marquis for extended periods is easier. And its easier to draw and quieter, the 82nd has sheer power but has a longer axle to axle.

Skylar said shot placement is key and if the shots right the Marquis is enough. And I would agree but does anyone have any input that might make a case for the 82nd. I have a 2009 Admiral but its just not floating my boat at the moment.

What would you pick out of the 2 and why?

Oh and saying bring a Mathews will not count.

I shoot a 60lb bow and get passthroughs on hogs and deer.Bring whichever one you like better.Heck bring them both. You're traveling a long ways to go home empty handed if you have a bow failure.

How about we throw you a curveball?? Get the 82nd in #60? You will get the best of both worlds. A cannon you can manage and hold. You can shoot a 340 -350 gr arrow and get great speed and K.E. Shooting a bow like this at 70lbs consistantly you will eventually hurt your shoulder. If you creep the slightest bit. Which in a stand you have a good chance to do, with animals not standing still like targets.

The 60 pound Marquis is more than enough. Which can you shoot more accurately? I would think the Marquis would be easier to draw and hold due to the lighter weight but if you have the ability to draw, hold and just as accurately place 82nd AB, I would go with the higher KE just because I could do it with extra room for error without loss of shot placement.

For me, it would be the Marquis.

I think the Marquis would be plenty as well. I've killed hogs up to 250 with a similar set up. That being said if you pull/shoot the 70lb Airbourne just as well, I'd go for that - there's no such thing as too much KE when it comes to hogs.

Doesn't matter as long as you are only taking high percentage short range shots.
Go with the first option and keep it simple.

Either bow is strong enough to make an ethical kill, I would say shoot the one you are most accurate with to increas your chances of harvesting an animal. I would take both if thats a possibility, just in case. GOOD LUCK on your hunt and let us know how it turns out.

If my English/English translator is working correctly you are sending your bow ahead of your trip. Why not send one, and bring the other with you as luggage? Doubles your chances of arriving with a working bow.

As far as the actual hunting, either bow will be fine. Bring both and shoot whichever you are in the mood for.

The excess baggage charges are getting a little costly, + if my bow arrives damaged it would mean I would have to buy a complete new setup once there..............

you can't send them in a double bow case? I always bring two, never know when one is gonna fall out of a tree. Especially with me in charge of it.

I would take the faster bow so that minor distance estimation errors are less of a factor with the flatter trajectory. JMO

Ah, I see. So you WANT to send just one bow so your chances double that you MUST buy a new setup.

You're a smart man! My wife wouldn't think it was so smart if I did that, but then again it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission!

P.S.- I'd go with the 60 if accuracy is the same, otherwise I'd go with whatever you're most accurate with.
