    Austin area TBHers, help please.

Hi guys. My wife and family and I are going to take our new camper on her maiden voyage. She wants to try lake Travis. We are thinking about Pace Bend County park. Is it the best place for us or can anyone offer any suggestions, please? Thanks in advance, Robert.

Me too. Pace Bend is (was) a party spot. Very loud at night. Palmetto is a cool place also.

They have spots on the water, & a pond in the middle with perch for the kids.

              Parks

We camped at Pace Bend in college and were overrun w/ high school kids partying all night and listening to Pink Floyd The Wall on repeat... They left to go for a beer run and forgot to turn their stereo down, so I went over to their van to do it myself and walked up on some kids getting busy in a van... They turned the music down for several minutes until the rest of them got back, then cranked up the Pink Floyd and continued partying... Luckily one of the guys w/ me was Travis County SWAT and called in a few deputys to get them removed. This was only after one of their cars spun out and shot gravel across our campsite... Had my lifetime's share of Pink Floyd...

Pace Bend is a cool place to check out for the day, but I would try Inks Lake, Pedernales Falls, or Colorado Bend (upper end of lake Buchanan) for a more enjoyable family experience. A state park will be more reliable than a county park for some p & q.

And you don't give me call. I live about 5 miles from there. And I thought you were my friend.

+1 on Bastrop. Lovely park, a little different view than standard Texas Brush.

Lake Georgetown has some beautiful camp sites and great hiking trails.

Pace Bend will be much quieter this time of year. Not to mention, in my experience over the past couple years at Pace Bend, its really a crazy all night party scene. More likely some campfires and a few sailboats in the coves.... I like the spot very much.

I grew up in Burnet and have to say that Inks Lake state park although alittle more of a drive is the best pick. Especially for the family. Lots of stuff to see and do.

                          Thanks.

We chose Inks Lake. What's the best way to try to get my kids on a fish or two there?

Good choice. They have a dock that you can fish from. It's perfect for kids.
