Jake committed to going inside. At that speed there is no changing course.

Nothing about that play would suggest that there was any reason to go toward the inside of the plate and TOWARD contact...he was trying to create some kind of contact, but I can’t imagine he was trying for..THAT.

I don’t think it was malicious, it was just stupid and un necessary.

Watch the video. You can see Lucroy slide left slightly, Jake goes to the inside for a head first slide as Lucroy adjusts back inside. It was a baseball play plain and simple. Anyone suggesting it was on purpose hasn’t played a sport at Jakes speed before.

If Yuli gets hurt after the inevitable DFA of Tyler White, it will matter. Planning for not counting on Tyler White is probably a good idea.
