Had the rhyme right. Maybe he doesn't know his colors yet?

I have 4 boys (age 15 and under)and they all know the drill.
          “If you see a snake,
          1. Do not get near it.
          2. Run and get daddy.”

They all know the first time they break the rule, they don’t get to go hunting.

Yup told my girls don't pick up any snake, unless I'm there and told them it was a " good " snake.

Lol, I'm glad none of y'all were my parents. Can't go hunting if you pick up a snake? Good lord .
And we wonder where all the snowflakes are coming from.

My daughter is 3. I tell her snakes are bad and to stay away. One day we can get into the good snakes and bad snakes. They do get shot haha

My 13yr old will pick em up and he’s handled many. He knows the rules about color and head shape and what to avoid.

What’s a good childhood with out playing with a garter snake?

Our only rule is never at church! [emoji23][emoji23]

I guess it’s a family thing. (Great grandad and great uncle pictured below, Coleman Co.1960s)

We did the rattle snake round-up in Sweetwater several years back with a guide, chaps & grabber poles...nervous dads but it went well

My parents told me not to jack around with them all the time. That didn't work. I made it 20 years before I got bit.

That kid has the saying figured out. Now it's time to learn his colors.

We tell ours not to pick up any snakes but we don't just leave it there. You have to take them out and learn about them, their behavior, and then you can start pushing the limits. Why would you tell a kid never touch a snake, or gun, or knife? Idiots put their idiot kids in cars every day and let them out amongst us.

I remember when my Aunt about flipped her lid when I was a little kid over catching a snake. We used to go up to Missouri during the Summer to visit and I saw a garter snake go up into the siding on the trailer house. I reached in and grabbed it by the tail. My Aunt had a fit...."You don't know the snakes we have up here!" I remembered thinkin...."You wanna bet?"

From the time I was old enough to read that's all I did was look up different kinds of snakes. I could name every venomous and mildly venomous snake in North America and a lot in countries I've never been to before I was in school learning what a noun our verb was.
