    Rebuilt title vehicles.

Anyone ever bought a vehicle with a salvage or rebuilt title? If so, did everything run ok?
Im looking for a first truck for my oldest son and found one that has a rebuilt title. This is what carfax says.

Easy to buy and hard to sell is what I have heard.

It depends on the damage and who did the work and how well they did there job. Looks like it was totaled by being rear ended based on the history and subsequent replacement of sway bars and hubs leads me to believe they may not have been able to get the frame back square which could lead to continuous problems.

Also as has been said they are hard to sell have a fraction of the value of a clean title. They are difficult to insure as well and hard to get financed.

      Just my 2 cents

I bought a CTSV that had a blue rebuilt title . They insure with ease not an issue I paid cash ..

its all about the accident . Blue rebuilt is said to be ( I say said ) back to factory specs .. In my case the head lights in the CTSV are over 1000 each , so with that the core support was pushed back new rad , new ac condenser , re charge on the system the body work put it over the 50% mark so the insurance totaled it . I was able to see all photos of the damage and all the parts the guy bought , invoice from body shop .. In my case it was a great deal and I bought a high dollar car for low money . Sold it for more than I paid for it 2 years later .

Salvaged is more so good from afar but far from good . If the price is right and car runs well ok if your only only to put basic insurance on it , why not . Again ton of factors that are involved in this .

Reading yours it has a bent frame and yes frames can be pulled but its not a frame per say you can only pull and twist them so much .

On a harley one crack in the frame or bent part is a total . bend the fender strut its totaled . But the fender strut is easy to bend and just as easy to repair .

My Ex FIL bought a truck that had been repaired not a total but the thing would make super left hand turns and wide right , ford dealer sold it off used lot and they bought it back it ended up totaled as at the time I worked at that dealer ship... you will see where they hooked on to the frame to pull it the clamp marks are visible for the most part

Cars well ha ha a bit more parts for sure .. Good luck

My son bought a car like that. Like one of the message said easy to buy hard to sell. My son car was good for the first 1000 miles, then different things started going wrong with it, seem like every week he was fixing something on it. I would stay away.

I have a blue rebuilt on one of my super duty work trucks. Pole fell on the bed and crushed it. Put a flatbed on it and no problems since. Bought it with 150k and about to roll over 300k.

To me it depends on the damage, and how long you plan on keeping it. If you’re going to drive it until the wheels fall off then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Totally depends on the damage and the vehicle.

I’m on year two of ownership of a $100k+ motorhome that I bought for 30 grand salvage.

The adjuster totaled it over the phone, without even looking at it after hearing the toilet leaked (it was actually the supply line) and the water ran out of the bathroom, across the vinyl floor, and out the door. The neighbor saw it leaking and turned off the water.

I did very few repairs, got a rebuilt title and have full coverage on it.

I can sell it at any time for twice what I paid for it.

There are lots of salvage deals out there just like this....you probably won’t get financing, but the deals are out there.

I've had several, all bought from family or I already owned. it depend on the nature of the salvage title. if you have an old cheap car that's already not worth much and there's an accident the insurance company will call it totaled even if its minor body damage.
