    Have fun!
Nothing personal brother but I will advise against Mulates, average food which is a tourist trap capitalizing on the French name and serving “Cajun” food. Very familiar with Mulates as it originated in Breaux Bridge/Lafayette. There are easily dozens of better places to eat in NOLA.

Was just thinking of things close to the WWII and convention center...

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Also, thanks for the PM about the bank fishing spots. That will probably be my fall back if I cannot book up with a guide or somebody with a boat. Also, thanks for all the food suggestions. That is my second favorite pastime besides fishing/hunting.

Peche and Cochon Butcher are 1 block from the WWII Museum and would be great food options

If you want a very nice meal , take the wife to dinner at GW Fins ... arguably the best restaurant in NOLA right now https://gwfins.com/

So right now we have a reservation at Commander’s Palace (her request) at 9:30 pm on the 15th. I still want to try the GW Fins since I looked at the menu.

I guess I’m going to have to hit up some of the bank spots offered up in a PM to me since I’m going to be dropping some serious cash on a couple of dinners.

Thanks for all the suggestions, gents!

I like to count the number of abandoned cars on the side of I-10, starting as soon as I come through Kenner. My personal best is 10 by the time I made it to the Superdome.

Lots of good places to eat....but the food in Houma is better.

If you feel like you just got a bad omen, get the hell out ASAP. For some reason, when things start turning bad in NOLA they keep turning bad. Rarely do things ever go partly bad in New Orleans. It is an all or nothing place.

If you don’t already have one, download an app that lets you mark where you parked the car. That way you can confirm to the NOPD later exactly where it was before it was stolen.

Since 1938, Mother’s Restaurant has been a gathering place for Marines. Visit our restaurant or browse through our menu and call us today at (504) 523-9656 for deliveries.

May want to make time for Mother's restaurant. Excellent food.

if you are looking for great food at min. cost, try http://www.gumbostop.com/. Small place but great food. Just a few min from down town...

I grew up in Laplace, just outside of N.O. It's as safe as any big city. Just stay out of the 9th ward and you'll have a great time.

Is the one in Breaux Bridge still around? I used to go to Fred’s in Mamou on Saturday mornings and Mulates on Saturday night.

Mulates in BB closed down for several years and re-opened with new owners, and a new name … Pont Breaux's Cajun Restaurant . Still has live Cajun music (Thurs - Sun) and the same/similar food items. http://www.pontbreauxscajunrestaurant.com/

Be smart, just like any other city. Dark alley's get a pass. Ride the street car. Couple of good bourbon bars too. The bar at the top of the Ponchatrain Hotel on St Charles is worth a visit for the view. Ciao'

This man is spot on. I live 20 minutes away and we frequent these restaurants. Good food.

I would also checkout the WWII museum. And of course you could be the cliche tourist and hit up bourbon street.

There is much to see and do. Tons of live music, bars, different areas to hang out with great food and social atmosphere. I enjoyed just picking an area and exploring it for a day. Locals are friendly, beer is cold and you can walk around with it, leave the bar with a whiskey if you want. The parks and river are always worth the visit. Skip Bourbon Street.
