    Ranger Disk Harrow?

I really want to put in a sunflower plot this year on my FIL's place. That said, I don't have ready access to a tractor. The plot is only 3 acres so I was thinking I should be able get it done with one of the tow behind the ranger disks.

Have yall had much success doing this route? If so which brands? I'd love the combo with the combo cultipacker but dont have 3k to throw at it...

Anybody want to rent one around DFW? would be willing to trade hunts on the patch, or money.

2nd... anybody want to sell one?

Plowing 3 acres with something that size is going to take a very long time, and put a lot of wear and tear on a UTV.

    Where is the place?

Take you 3 weeks to plow 3 acres with that. Also the dust produced will kill that ranger.

For the record, I have a ~25Hp tractor with a little disc, and I think I'd borrow/rent a bigger one to do something like that.

My tractor is 17hp with a 4' disc and it would as others have said, 'take forever' to do 3 acres. Rent a bigger one as Dale said. Get it done quickly and efficiently.

The extra weight of a larger tractor and plow will yield a much better result in less passes, as well. Meaning, it will not only plow wider, but deeper.

                Ranger Disk Harrow?

Really depends on soil type and how much vegetation is present...but as stated, a 3’ disc is pretty small and rather light so multiple passes would more than likely have to be made and you still might not get the desired results.

Maybe you can hire someone in your area to do it.

an acre (square) is 43560 square feet. That's a lot of tracks / back and forth on a Ranger. My vote, like others, hire that out.

The tractor rental is cheap compared to what you can break on the Ranger. Ask me how I know.

has it been cultivated before ,if so it will be a little easier...Otherwise that mat of roots and grass will be impenetrable with that light a disc..Burned off would help..BUT! Ya still need a moldboard plow and or offset disc or both and some HP...If its sandy it will be easier ,a little.

I had a 56HP JD with 6f shredder 3bottom MB plow and 6f Offset disk...Thats more than ya need just what I had.

Or if you already have the disc use your truck for extra HP and cinder blocks.
