    Working out on the Keto

Has anyone experienced any "crashing" after pushing your self physically? My day to day job requires very little physical activity and I have plenty of energy while I'm walking around the shop pointing at **** for other people to do lol.
Well, last weekend was the first time I really pushed myself physically around the house since I started this diet and I noticed both Saturday and Sunday I went from going 90 mph to a all of a sudden "crash" in my energy level.
I believe it was Glen that posted on a keto thread that one of his co-workers is hospitalized due to working out hardcore while doing the Keto. I'm planning to start working out in the near future and was wondering if I need to make some changes prior to doing so.
Is anyone else experiencing this as well or is this just my body telling me I'm waaaay outta shape

Not weight lifting but when I played basketball I would take honey to maintain the energy levels. Seemed to do the trick at least for me, and it would not affect the ketosis level.

I plan to start working out soon (mid February) and will be taking honey to try to sustain energy levels.

I’m semi- keto, avoid carbs for breakfast and lunch but for dinner one side is usually pasta or rice and I’ll have a glass of sweet tea. My bigger discipline area is portion control.

Probably defeats the purpose of keto but I’m down 20 lbs since Christmas and have plenty of energy. 3-4 mile run or 45 min workout 4 or 5 times a week, on top of being on my feet out in the field all day. Been working well for me.

Also do your best to avoid eating out. Lots of meat, fruits and veggies, it doesn’t matter what diet you’re on you will feel better physically and mentally.

How long have you been doing it? Could be the initial “ketoflu” some people experience.

Whenever I would start a low carb diet I would struggle during periods of moderate or intense exercise. I felt like I just didn’t have the energy to complete a good work out.
I was told to eat more fat but I always struggled to find the right foods. Try avocados on your eggs.

Just be careful. I work in a large department. Got a email about guys going on low carb diets and continued or started working out. Obviously messed them up as I received an email I’m going to discuss with my troops. If you do it make sure if you feel bad goto a Dr and have blood work is the short story. Had some official name on it but do not remember- I’ll try to pull email from phone if it lets me

Rhabdomyolysis is a condition in which your muscle cells are broken-down or damaged to the point they release myoglobin into your bloodstream. Myoglobin is stored inside your muscles for normal muscle function. Once it starts to leak into the blood stream and travel to the kidneys, it begins to clog and block normal kidney function. This leads to kidney damage, kidney failure, and in some cases death.

                          CAUSES OF RHABDO:
                          • Strenuous exercise
                          • Extremely low carb diets like Keto or Atkins based diets in which your body does not get enough carbohydrates to fuel your workouts. Your body then begins to breakdown your existing muscle for energy while exercising
                          • Excessive alcohol consumption regularly or the day before exercising
                          • Excessive heat or humidity causing dehydration before, during, or after training
                          • Lack of fluids, electrolytes and water; especially before, during, and after training
                          • Exercising while sick with the flu or other illnesses

                          SYMPTOMS OF RHABDO:
                          • Extremely painful muscle aches or cramps
                          • Muscle weakness
                          • Dark or cola colored urine
                          • Flu-like symptoms, fever, and/or nausea
                          • Swollen muscles that can be red or flushed in appearance
                          • Irregular heartbeat or cardiac arrest

                              Good info Glen
It’s always best when changing eating habits particularly a strict diet to slowly incorporate mild to moderate exercise & not go full bore HIT training or aggressive type weight lifting. As your body adjusts, then slowly incorporate some exercise. The keto diet has some mixed reviews but typically is not recommended as a long term diet plan or at least from what I have seen. It’s categorized as an aggressive weight loss for short term to shed weight quickly. I’m certainly no MD but have researched it some to look at pros & cons
