    How to reinforce security gates?

This is something I’ve been pondering on for quite some time. A friend’s heavy wrought iron gate at her house was rammed and forced open by thieves. And recently, a local business was burglarized. The thieves gained entry by ramming the sliding, automatic gate.

There’s an old video shown years ago with a HD truck (not a pickup) ramming the fence and it wasn’t able to bust through.

I’d like to build some automatic gates that would be harder to bust through with a vehicle.

    Anyone have some helpful ideas?

This may be the old video I had in mind.

Hitting the metal beam that is buried in the ground is what stopped that truck, not the fence.

How about gates that would double as spike strips?

What could be done with sliding gates? When they rammed it, it just folded in like a U. They hit it very hard.

Could you recess pipe below the ground that slides up?

Yeah a recessed barrier and big dogs sound good.

Are the gates for your house of place of business?

Could be for both. After seeing the aftermath of thieves at work it makes you want to do whatever is necessary to at least make things tougher for them.

You could get some security bollards install that can be removed each day or go all out and have the install in the ground and come up when set

Weld spikes along the gate at radiator height. It works, trust me
