So this may get lengthy, but something happened to me that I never thought would happen last week. I came home from work to find my house had been broken into. The back door was completely busted off the door jamb. The suspect scaled an 8 ft. fence to get into my back yard.
After doing a quick overview of things with the police in my home, we realized a few things were missing. Quite a bit of my wife's jewelry, a half a bottle of Crown Royal (he/she obviously doesn't know their bourbon because there was a bottle of Woodford Double Barrel sitting right next to it), and the fool took my bow, case and all!
All things that could be taken in one trip. Unfortunately, there were not any cameras around to see anything. That has changed, as I made a trip this weekend and bought some, and so have several of my neighbors.
I do not own any guns, only because I never really grew up around guns, and I have 2 small children at home. This will change in the near future. So, I may be asking for future help as far as carrying, and home defense.
Everything that was damaged can be fixed, and everything that was taken can be replaced, but the fact that someone was in my home that wasn't supposed to be there. This is what I can't get over! It's not likely that this person will come back, but he/she knows what I look like, and what my family looks like.
Everything is in the Police Department's hands at this point, and I trust their abilities and am thankful for their duty and availability. I would encourage anyone, no matter how safe you think your neighborhood is, to at least go out and get some cameras.
Thanks for letting me vent GS!
