Best guess on aging by the jaw
01-16-2019, 06:17 PM
I just got this jaw cleaned up. Give me your best guesses on age please. This deer was killed about 20 miles west of Eldorado, TX.

Looks 3.5 by the teeth...I’m not a big fan of teeth aging, but that is what those teeth show to me

With what little I know I’d say 3 or 4.

He'd be tooth aged at 3.5 on our deer lease in the panhandle.

Classic example of a 3 1/2 year old jaw bone. Too much wear on the 4th tooth for a 2 1/2 and not enough on the 4th and 6th teeth for a 4 year old.

I agree with everyone on the 3 1/2 age by looking at the jaw. I will say when looking at him on the hoof it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he was 4 1/2. I will post camera pics, and based on those pics what would have been your guess.
