    82nd Airborne by Bowtech

Anybody have one? If so, How do they shoot? I was looking at different Bows and this is one that had a 31 1/2 inch draw, so it would fit me and I was wondering if anyone had any first hand experience with one.

It's a great shooting bow...your best bet is to try a few of them out and go with what's comfortable. You will be impressed and a proud owner of a Bowtech soon I'm sure.

i dont have the model you inquired about, but shooting a Bowtech will probably change your mind for good as to what you want to shoot from now on.

This was my second choice when I bought my DXT. I liked the speed, but the only thing that steered me toward the DXT was the draw was alot smoother on the DXT. I'm sure if I would've bought the Airborne, I prolly could've gotten used to the draw, but I've shot Mathews for so long that I just decided to stick with what I'm used to. If you try it and like it, then go for it.

As I've gotten older, I can draw less and less poundage. Gone are the days of easily drawing an 80lb bow. I have an Allegiance which is probably the best bow I've ever owned, but it has 70 lb limbs, which I had set at 62. On cold days, there were times when I struggled to get it back. With the high IBO number of the 82nd, I thought I could shoot lower poundage and still get right at 300 fps. I got Sam at Triple Edge to get me a set of 60 lb limbs for an 82nd. When it came in, I fell in love. I can draw it at 55 lbs with NO problem. I have to draw 55 lbs over a longer plateau, but I don't have to hit 60+. With the FDC, there's as much or more energy stored as in my Allegiance.

It's a little longer than my Allegiance, but I had not problems in my ground blinds with the roof hitting. I shot a 350 Maxima out of my Allegiance that weighed 370. The 250's that I shoot out of my 82nd weigh just over 350. I shoot Hammerheads and Rage 2 and 3 blade heads. I was interested to see how they shot through animals.

I got two packs of 125 grain Muzzy heads in the LSBA draw. What the heck. I used them for hogs. I shot 2 BIG boars with them and blew right through both of them. The third one I shot with the 2 blade Rage. Shot right through them. I killed three bucks with the Rage heads. Two blew through the deer and one shot all the way through the opposite shoulder with the point visible. FYB and Wednesday had the arrows go a good 20 to 30 feet behind the deer.

Low poundage and awesome performance. I love it.

When you compare bows, set the poundage to the point where the bows are shooting the same arrow the same speed, then compare. Otherwise, it's not a fair comparison. If you compare a bow with a 300 IBO rating and a bow with a 350 IBO rating and shoot both at 70 lbs, then you will choose the low IBO bow because it'll be easier to draw. My 82nd compared with my Allegiance at the same poundage will be tough for me to pick the Allegiance. If I turn the 82nd down to the point that they shoot the same arrow at the speed I want, then at my point in life, the 82nd will win. I probably couldn't draw the 82nd at 70 lbs, but at 55 it's a breeze.....and fast.

I have only shot like 15 shots through one, and it was a shop owners personal bow. At 70#/28 in draw, it was not as smooth as the other bowtechs(general and captain) I was comparing it to.

My 1st Bowtech was a General, it was easier to draw & very compact. I now have a 101st Airborne & love it. I feel as if I am a lot more accurate as well. The extra 15 FPS is nice also.

Find a bow your comfortable with first and foremost. I personally shoot a mathews and love it, although my roommate shoots an 82nd and that dude is bad too!

I shot alot of different bows when I bought my guardian. The draw on the 82nd had a little hump at the end but shot very nice. I was going from 31 ata bow so 36 seemed way too long at the time. The guardian was abt 34 ata. I still wonder if I made the right decision. The guardian is awesome and I shoot it well, but the extra speed the 82nd offers is/was hard to turn down.

I bought one to replace my X-Force when it was stolen. I neede a bow quick and couldn't wait on another x-force so I got the 82nd.

At first I didn't like it b/c the draw was a little different than my old bow, but after having owned it for about 6 months now it is one of my favorite bows I have owned. THe speed and KE it produces are the best thing about it. I shoot Rage 2 blades and had pass throughs on every deer I shot.

However, it will be my back up bow when my X-Force omen comes in.
