    Maxey trailer re-decking question...HELP!

I bought a Maxey 12'x6 1/2' tandem axle trailer new about 5 or 6 years ago. The decking has rotted out near the rear gate and I need to replace it. Problem is all the T30 bolts are seized into the lower frame...and I have 53 of these bastages to remove. I've tried all sorts of penetrating lubricants but cant seem to break these free without breaking them off.

Anyone have some suggestions on how to get these out so I can re-deck it?

You've already figured one way by breaking them off.

Might try an impact drill to take them out.

Break them with a chisel, cut with a sawzall, or drill them.

Chain saw the boards out (watch for wires) grind off old screws. Replace deck and bolt with carriage bolts

Why in the world do trailer builders put non treated lumber in their trailers? It dont cost that much more.

This. I like to use the circ saw and set the blade juuust deep enough to get through the boards, I just find it a little cleaner job.

It doesn't help that much anymore either. They've taken all the arsenic out of the green stuff and it's trash.

Also, coat new deck with burnt motor oil. I prefer a hot sunny couple days when you wont need trailer for a week or so

This, it helps for longevity. Break the old ones off, it won’t hurt anything. A stout enough drill will twist them off quickly.

Thanks for the reply & tips fellas. Guess I got a date with the saw and grinder. I really wish they would've used carriage bolts instead of these things. This is gonna be a major PITA

All great answers. Done a few at work and we weld flat strap over the seems of the boards tonhelp with curling up of the boards

Cut them off flush with an angle grinder and replace with your choice in fasteners. If you really want to try to remove them try heating with a torch. Get them hot enough that the penetrating oil smokes when you spray them. Keep them soaked with penetrating oil as they cool. Cooling will cause the oil to get sucked into the threads and break free. A hammer tap also helps.
