    Question for buck experts.

Do heavy antlered deer shead before spikes and thin horned bucks? Or do they just shead when they shead?

I dont think I'm an expert but I'd say they shed when they shed. I doubt heavier deer shed earlier than pencil bucks
That said I have a feeling you ask the question for a reason. Did your see one of your bugs bucks with out antlers or what?

Just a really mature buck, but seen several thin horned bucks with head gear. Made me wonder.

I think the deer’s health is a factor. I think an older buck worn down from the rut might drop earlier than a young buck.

Depends on the condition of the deer. Deer in poor shape will shed first.

Been hunting 35 years now and not quite sure what a shead is. Please explain.

Since we are giving opinions, I will share mine.

Condition of the animal is the first key. The second key I think is birth date, if they were born early in the year, they shed early, born late shed late.

It's not quite as bad as a shart.
