A 65-year-old Virginia resident who was bitten by a puppy while on a yoga retreat in India died weeks later of rabies after returning to the US and likely exposed other people to the virus. The wound was washed with water at the time, but the woman received no further treatment until she presented at a US hospital, according to a report by State Public Health Veterinarian Julia Murphy and colleagues.
