Cell Phone reception in Montana with Cricket Wireless?

Does anyone here know if Cricket will do any better there? My Verizon tablet had issues getting a signal most of the time.

I had a lot of difficulty making and receiving calls. It didn’t matter how tall of a hill I climbed to try and make a call or send a text.

Montana is a pretty big state. But if you look at the cricket coverage map is does not look very good. And since these maps are very optimistic towards the carrier, I would look at a few more maps from other carriers

Cricket is owned by ATT. And uses ATT towers. If you've got a ATT tower near by, you will have a signal.

Thanks. Yeah thought I read or heard something about it before. Maybe a smart phone will get better reception? Or at least I hope. Had AT&T before up there on just a flip phone and it was a toss up as to where a person would get reception. That was a little worrisome at times working out so far away from any town or help.

What's the effective range of a cell tower?

That makes sense because I was much further than that to the nearest town. It was all ranch land in any direction from populated places. Mostly hills in that area.

I had decent service when near a paved highway or town this summer. Like mentioned above check the ATT coverage map for Cricket service. I cant imagine any phone having service once you get back in the woods

After all the difficulty I had out there it was surprising to see a Cowboy actually having a conversation on his cell phone. It usually took me driving twenty miles to get any signal at all. He said he had service through Verizon. Yet my Verizon tablet would barely get an internet signal long enough to send an email.

My Dad has Verizon and he lives 1 mile or so West of US 93 and he has service. I am sure it depends where you are
