After many hours during October-November chasin these hit listers with the bows, we humbly tipped our hats to them as they beat us on numerous occasions. Mature ETX bucks have a reputation for doing that and doing it well. Anyhow, we dailed in the remmy's and rugers and got back at them. I connected first on a chilly December 6th morning on this 4 yr old 17" low 120's heavy 8. Two days later my oldest son hooked up with a 9 pt 6 yr old mid 120's beast that we had so much history with. He had slipped us for more times than I care to count. Was bittersweet to finally stand over him and thank him for all the head and heartaches!! A week later my brother who hunts these farms with us caught up to a 5yr old we called big 10. He fooled us a little as we were certain he would get north of the 140" mark. He taped just shy of 135" but still a beautiful ETX 10. Last but certainly not least my 13 yr old took the bragging rights when he finally connected 2 days before Christmas on a tall tined 9 that he hunted hard for. We played cat and mouse with this dude for a week, before it all came together. He passed on him one morning, the deer was prolly 250-270 yards and he told me dad, I just can't get steady!! Lol. I'll admit he made me shake a bit just watching him in the binos!!!!! But on the evening of the 23rd Jackson made it right and sealed the deal. A 147" 4yr old that yes, would have done no telling what to pass and let him get to 5......but try telling that to a 13 yr old!!!!! Anyhow just wanted to share our season. My youngest still is going some, he's my non obsessive deer hunter. He don't much care for all the sitting and waiting, but who knows he may hook up with one before season ends as well. God bless and happy huntin.
