It definitely affects companies when they have good competition (like Academy). Walmart didn't drop at all when it removed ARs, mostly because they ran all their competitors into the ground beforehand.

"(largely the result of the Trump administration, which is not the kind of pointed threat to gun rights its predecessor was)."

Let's just keep telling ourselves that...

Good. They definitely didn't know their customers when they made their stupid decision.

I won't go there to buy other stuff too. Even though 99% of the time that I go to Academy I don't buy a gun or hunting equipment, I still go through the gun/hunting department and look.

I wonder how long it will take for investors to get tired of this and remove some current board members, including Stack. I don't know who owns the majority of the stock, so it might not be possible if the family does.

They spent all last year telling everyone it WAS NOT directly related to their gun decisions when that was clearly what the data was showing. Way to come clean. Maybe they can set up a Go Fund Me account

I hope Cabela's feels the pain too.

I don’t think it had anything or little to do with their political stance. It has poor selection and subpar inventory in every department. Team sports to fishing is all subpar. Close the door. It just Oshman’s which had the same issue

Never been in any of their stores, but I agree it reminds me of an Oshman’s. There was only one particular item that ever interested me enough to set foot in a Dick’s store. It was a weightlifting machine. Decided to just save my money and stick with free weights.
