Just wanted to see if there were any watch collectors here. I admittedly don’t know much at all about watches. I just recently started to research them. Learning the terminology and the different movement types. They only watch I’ve owned for the last 4yrs is a G-Shock Rangemaster. It’s been a great watch, but I wanted to get something a bit more refined. Something a little nicer looking. After some research, it seemed that a very popular watch to start with was the Seiko SKX007J. This is a automatic “Dive” style watch with a Japanes movement. It’s cert not high end. Less than $250 for the “J” model that is assembled in Japan (The “K” model is the less desirable model assembled in Korea or Maylasia). I also bought a Seiko SNZG15J. This is a cheaper ($129) automatic field style watch. The are better known as a “Seiko 5 Sports”. This will be the one I wear daily to work/gym etc.... I’ll put a nicer black leather band on the SKX007J and wear it occasionally when going out. There is a really nice black face Citizen Eco-Drive chronograph that I’d like to purchase next. I doubt I will ever have any high end $10,000 watches in my collection. There are just so many other things I’d rather spend that kind of money on other than a watch. However, I’m sure there are some of you guys that have really nice ones like this.

I've got a tag super specialist I maybe would part with. My dad gave it to me when I graduated high school as a gift, ten yrs later when I got out of college, he gave me the updated version. I would sell the older one, it sits in my safe. Automatic, so no batteries. Water proof to 1k meters. It's a nice watch.

Most of the “collectors” are into watches with more commas and zeros lol

Maybe in the future if I get more “into it”.

To the op, there are a bunch of folks on here who are watch collectors/enthusiasts. I love em but am still saving for the key ones I really “need” to pick up. Stuff like buying a new house and have a kid keep eating up all my spare cash though! That said if anyone knows of a smokin deal on a 1985 sub let me know!
I have a couple nice watches I’ve picked up at really good deals but my dailies are either a Garmin Fenix 5x or a Casio pathfinder fishing that was less than $50 but I can beat the heck out of it and it keep goingLast edited by hooligan; 01-02-2019, 07:50 PM.
