Welded my first hog trap up today

I still half to put a bucket on the feeder that way the corn will fall straight down. I went with cattle panel and I’m hoping it will hold up. I’m ready to trap a big one and see how it holds up

looks good! If you build another I would suggest the 4"x4" panels and put them on from the inside for the sides. With the panel you used a big hog will ram them and bust the welds and eventually you will have a hole where you will lose hogs.

Looks good. I agree you may wish the squares were smaller. You'd be surprised how big of a pig will squeeze through these when you walk up to the trap

Not to be critical here, but you'd best wrap some sheet metal or something around that spinner to make the corn fall in the trap. Otherwise they'll probably just eat what's outside and not go in. Most hogs are fairly trap-shy nowadays.

I have one set up just like this and it's been very successful over the years. I will let it feed with the door latches open then set it after the hogs get comfortable coming in. You will catch them. Good luck.

Got the plans in my head, now just have to start to weld first trap. So looking at yours.

I split a 5 gal. plastic bucket like a wrap around thing for mine. half when outside and the other dropped inside the trap.

I would secure that bucket feeder with some wire or tie wraps and maybe a mesh screen around the timer. Coons will empty it pretty quick and knock it off when it gets empty.

Two foot of chicken wire wraped/wired around the bottom half of a trap will stop the piglets from getting out. Also might want to put a couple of bars across the top of the trap door opening to keep the deer and calves from getting trapped.
