    PRS shooting match

I’m looking to get into shooting a few matches, does anyone here shoot them? I’m not new to long range but a bit rusty so I know I’ll need to reverify all my dope and do some practice before getting into a match.

Does anyone have any gear recommendations? I’ll be running probably a ar10 in .260 wearing a vortex viper I’ve shot this gun out to 1300 yards and am familiar with it. I also have a savage 12fv with bottom metal running acis mags this Gun is some what new to me but I’ve shot great groups out to 500 yards so far.

I’ve been shooting PRS since it’s creation.
As for gear, you can get by just fine with the basics.
    Atleast (2) ten round mags
    A good rear bag
    A good bipod
    A sling on your rifle
A pack to carry all your junk in from stage to stage.
Stuff to write with (in rainy conditions as well)
Something to put your dope on for each stage. You can use a wrist coach, something that clips to your scope, or you can even just wrap masking tape around your wrist and write on it with a sharpie. I’ve done this at many matches.
Good dope. Verified with a chrono
Some type of ballistics calculator. Your phone and a app will work just fine. I used “Shooter” for years.
Binos are helpful for finding targets
You don’t need a range finger. All targets in PRS are usually known distance. If not, someone in your squad will have a RF and tell the group the distances.

As for your rifle, I’d shoot whatever you feel you shoot the best. I’ve seen many many AR10’s **** the bed in a match when they get a little dirt in them. I wouldn’t recommend using one, but to each their own. I’m happy to help with any questions you have.

Thanks for the info! I might try and shoot a match in January a buddy of mine puts them on in my area. I need to get some solid dope out to 1100 yards before I go.

How many rounds do you normally shoot per match?

I typical 2 day PRS match is usually ~225-250 rounds......if you never time out and shoot at every target.
