Used Suburban purchase - has it been in a wreck??

Some help from those that may be more in the know than I.

I recently purchased a CPO Suburban from a very trustworthy Chevrolet dealership in the Houston area where the Carfax showed zero accidents on the history.

This was in a rental car fleet (I think National, but would have to go back and verify) out of Colorado, but looks like it drove all over (Cali, Nevada, etc) based on the old navigation destinations.

I found this sticker on the tailgate on the bottom. I hadn't noticed before until today when I was washing and detailing it for the first time.

Does anyone know if this means it was in a wreck and received front end damage?

    Thank you!

Im guessing a inspection sticker maybe, somebody may have scuffed up the front bumper.

Looks like a pre existing damage statement prior to rental like maybe scratches in plastic or rings in bumper

That's what I was hoping, but I have rented MANY cars, trucks and SUVs due to business travel and have never seen anything like this. I thought it may have been something they did before they sent it to auction. The date on the sticker is from when it was still in the rental fleet prior to auction and for retail sale.

BTW - this bumper on there now looks fine. I looked for something that would require a sticker to identify damage, but can't seem to find anything at all.

It's also a sticker that is REALLY on there. I was trying to get it off, but going to have to use that goo spray and maybe even a razor blade.

Just because a car has a “clean” car fax does NOT mean it’s never been in an accident whether minor and even yes MAJOR.

An accident hits the Car Fax when normally an insurance claim is submitted with the vehicles vin#. Additionally, a police report may trigger a car fax however, police reports do not disclose severity in most cases.

Case in point. A vehicle is smashed up against a home owners stone wall or tree or whatever not involving police or a second car. Damage is fairly extensive like $3-$4 K.

Owner decides because of his/her own record with the insurance company in getting canceled or rates raised to not submit a insurance claim. Owner pays out of their own pocket for the repairs. Car Fax never knows a thing and this is very common. Trust me. I appraised thousands of damaged and repaired vehicles with clean car faxes.

Another instance can be, the vehicle is so newly repaired that Car Fax didn’t get updated yet. It may take a few months.

Another blip ? Vehicles get damaged being transported all the time. Car carrier company’s and car dealers would most times repair out of pocket then submit claims for fear of raising rates and or having high deductibles up to $10,000.

Car Fax has plenty of room to slip a car accident in without be known.

So your car can or cannot be damaged Car Fax be ****ed.

Probably minor damage that was self insured and repaired
